Snotface X2 and Going Strong

Welllllllll...
I have to be honest. This past week has just not been fun. At all. Zach is still my little snotface. I'm getting to be Quick-Draw-McGraw with the booger sucker, though. Positive Polly, that's me. He still (still) is congested and I've probably gone through 3bags of wipes for his little nose. There's just not much you can do with a sick 16.5 month year old except have the humidifier going nonstop and prop his crib up. I have been also putting the vapo-rub stuff on his chest and a little dab under his nose before naps and bedtime. I think it helps...it makes me feel better anyhow.
However, as predicted, Jeff got sick. Not only did he get sick, but he has pneumonia. PNEUMONIA. He is not doing well, at all. Hurts to cough, can't lie down, has hardly slept since Friday. Not fun. On top of that, he has me as his nurse. I'm about as patient as an angry wasp when he gets sick. Without me making major disparaging comments about myself, if he needs any motivation to get better, he can just look at my sweet, adoring face.
*I'm hoping that the thick as cheese sarcasm is apparent in the written word.*
Oh, and did I mention, that we are due to leave for Michigan in one week? Yep, one week for him to recover 100%. If he isn't fully recovered, he gets to stay home.
!!@$##@$#@$@#$^#^%#%$&^*^&&*()*)(%$#$@!!
That's all I'll say on the matter.

Snotface

Zach has a cold. What a bummer! This is probably his third cold ever, he's usually such a healthy little guy. I guess playing at the gym daycare with all the other snotfaces finally did him in. I have to say, it's easier to deal with him being sick at 16.5 months as opposed to 9 months. He can communicate with me now, so I know he's not feeling too badly (since he's been running amok and climbing on the coffee table all morning). We actually went out garage saling for a bit this morning (nothing good), and I kept having to pull over to wipe the snot off his chin, nose, cheeks and forehead. *gag*
I'm sure JP will be sick by tonight (sigh).

Our Weekend Adventures

We had a fun filled weekend! On Saturday, the three of us drove into LA and went to a park called Aidan's Place. It's in Westwood and I read about it through that book I had posted about earlier. It's designed for disabled children, so it's super user-friendly. Plus, it's a huge park! So many different areas to explore and it was 20 degrees cooler than where we live. Here's a few pics:
Check out Zach's curls!! I have yet to take him for his first haircut because I'm worried his curls will be gone forever! This is a cute shot, but some days he really sports some serious wings on the side of his head.
I also got a little artsy and took this close up. He has amazing eyelashes!

Later we went to another park, this time in Santa Monica (also found in the amazing book). This park had some water fountain things that shot in the air. Zach normally loves this stuff, but as is typical, I had a picture of how it was going to be and it soooo did not turn out the way I had pictured. The water was freakin' cold, so he was in and out in a flash. It took us 10 times longer to change him into dry clothes than it took him to run through the water. Hanging with the Santa Monica crowd is verrrrrry different than being in SCV. Everyone looks like they're on TV or should be. Many plastic parts, many botox injections and many people with oodles of money (or just look like they do). I think it would be fun to live there, but I couldn't hang for long with that crowd...not my speed.
On Sunday, Zach and Jeff started off their day by watching Baby Einstein in bed.

Zach was then recharged enough to go through Daddy's wallet.

Is that the look of guilt or what? Said guilty look quickly changed to "I did it!"

And here's a pic I took last week that I thought I'd share because the editing on it turned out pretty cool. You can't beat the sprinklers on a hot summer day.

Labor Day Weekend

This is a little late, but I just now got the pics downloaded. We went up to my parents for Labor Day Weekend. For anyone that doesn't know, they live in Three Rivers, which is right by Sequoia Nat'l Park. It was pretty hot, but luckily the folks have a hose. Zach was able to cool off with it and manage to spray Dad's freshly washed windows...hee hee. We went down to the river on Sunday and hung out for a bit. Zach loved playing in the sand and throwing rocks in the river. The water was surprisingly warm, so he gladly went swimming, too! As for the rest of us, we slid down this huge rock along with all the other kids. It's like a waterslide once you get going! It was really fun. All these years we'd see kids doing it from the road and now we were finally doing it ourselves!

Here are my folks, catching some rays. This is before I sweet talked my Dad into sliding down the rock.
And, of course here's my Bug, giving Mama his silly face while Daddy tries to feed him. Can you tell he's thrilled?

Talking politics

Thought I would comment on McCain's pick for VP.
Sarah Palin.
Who in the hell is that, you may ask?
Yeah, you and every other person in America...except for some Alaskans.
She has 5 kids, the youngest is Trig (Trig??) who has Down's.
Enter the Mommy Wars, but how in the world would she have time for America with all those children she's supposed to be raising? I could care less if her 17 year old daughter is prego. The 17 year old made the choice, not Sarah Palin. That being said....
she's against women's rights, (she's 100% against abortion)
she's against human rights, (she's 100% against gay marriage)
she's against separation of church and state, (she believes creationism should be taught in schools)
I certainly wouldn't want my president's right hand wo(man), who has a direct channel into his decisions, with those beliefs. Not to mention, (as if you didn't already figure it out) she's about as right wing conservative as you can get.
Not that there was a decision to be made about who my vote was going towards, (go, Obama) but seriously...what was McCain thinking? Did he just hand the hammer for his coffin to the voters or what?
Discuss.
